World Class Blues-Roots

Geoff Achison blues-roots guitarist vocalist songwriter. Jupiter 2 Records Australia

Guitarist, singer & songwriter Geoff Achison has toured the world invoking the spirit of old-school blues & soul to create an engaging and original sound.

From the deep south of Australia, his exciting blend of raw blues and funky grooves has created scores of devoted fans around the world. Geoff was raised in the rural district of central Victoria and first heard American roots music via 'Track Of The Blues', a late night weekly radio show heard through his older brother's crackly transistor radio.  A self-taught musician, he began playing in local bands before moving to Melbourne where he joined 'Dutch Tilders & The Blues Club' backing up Australia's best known bluesman, 'Dutch' Tilders. After several years with Dutch he departed to concentrate on his own music. He began to play solo acoustic shows and developed his band-leading skills with his own group, The Souldiggers. His international travels began with a trip to Memphis for the International Blues Challenge where he won the Albert King Award and developed contacts for future touring opportunities. After countless tours and album releases he’s won himself a legion of enthusiastic fans and established a presence the global blues-roots stage. He was chosen as one of the “Top Ten Hottest New Guitarists” by Guitar Player Magazine and was included in the “Top 100+ Guitarists You Should Know” roster.  In 2012 Geoff was listed as one of the “Top 50 Australian Guitarists ” He’s been a 17-time Guest Guitar Instructor at Jorma Kaukonen's (Hot Tuna, Jefferson Airplane) Fur Peace Guitar Ranch and an exciting festival favourite featured on PBS, NPR, CNN and the BBC. He is a versatile artist who can deliver a
complete show with nothing more than his soulful voice and virtuosic acoustic guitar style but is also a highly regarded electric guitarist compared favourably to Jeff Beck and Warren Haynes able to deliver the full blues-rock experience with his outstanding combo, The Souldiggers. Geoff is also a keen and expert improviser and has been invited on stage to jam with big names such as the legendary Allman Brothers Band, Hot Tuna and many others. In 2014 Geoff Achison & The Souldiggers celebrated 20 years of music making with a spectacular live album and DVD package. His latest album, 'Another Mile, Another Minute' won 5 'Australian Blues Music Awards' in 2017 and is released world-wide through Landslide Records. He frequently tours the USA and Europe and maintains a steady presence on the home front in Australia.
